I found some exotic items in the food section... In terms of clothing, I was not very impressed, but it is fine on the whole. It has a modern glass roof structure on the uppermost floor which creates a greenhouse effect and renders the space very hot on sunny days. The lady at the cashier on that level was kind enough to let me out on the terrace in order to take good photos of the fantastic dome of the neighbouring cathedral. I could not take such photos from the streets around the cathedral because they are very narrow.

Do you ever question yourself as to whether M&S holds you, its customer, in contempt? Do you get tired of playing their "Hunt the merchandise" game? Then again, what about their marketing strategy with their interpretation of the word "new". The CEO, Steve Rowe has recently reported falling and sales and profits in the six months to the end of September 2016. It has announced that it will close 30 UK clothing and homeware shops and convert dozens more into food stores. It has said that it will have 60 fewer clothing and homeware stores in five years time. If you have not yet taken it on board Mr Rowe, perhaps it might be down to the way you treat your customers. For example, I am a Londoner, living in Spain and now visiting Malta. If I went into the M&S Flag-ship store, Marble Arch or to the UK online store I would be charged £18 to buy product T14/4470S - a pack of three Cool&Fresh (TM) Stretch Cotton Trunks. If I wanted to buy them online and have them shipped to my home in Spain M&S would not allow me to do this irrespective of paying a delivery charge as was once the case, but instead force me to buy from their on-line ES store. However, not for the same price, but an inflated 22,95€. Post-Brexit £18 is valued at around 20€ today. But it doesn't stop there! I cannot place an online order in the UK and pay to have it shipped to Malta because M&S do not deliver orders to Malta. You are forced to shop in one of their two stores on the island with a considerably reduced stock and size range. Today I bought one pack of T14/4470S trunks that retailed for, wait for it, 27,50€. Thanks nigh on £6 more than the price M&S charge in the UK. Hardly wonder then that I was the only shopper on the menswear floor. I once longed for M&S to turn itself round. Now I think the writing is on the wall as clear as daylight. Call it a day.
