I’m so disappointed that I don't actually know where to start. I just left the salon at Corinthia St. George about two hours ago. When I called and scheduled my appointment, I asked for a cut and a balayage - listed on the website as 90 for the balayage from a senior stylist, and 44 for the cut and blowdry. Fine; seems reasonable. My stylist was very nice, very quiet, and very confident. I have an extremely sensitive scalp and was literally in tears during part of the process; she and others were SO kind and gentle with my hair, so I don't want to insult the people or their hospitality. But I was told I would have a 15-minute consultation; I didn’t. I showed 3 pictures as soon as I arrived of a chocolate brown balayage with some light-brown/caramel, subtle tones mixed in. The second I sat in the chair, I told her very clearly: "My head was dyed red, it faded, but it still has a red tone." (This is obvious just by looking at it, but I specifically said it.) She brushed it off and I trusted that confidence. Then I told her I wanted my hair to be overall dark about six times. What I left with is various shades of orange and yellow stripe-like highlights on an overall very light head of hair. I couldn't tell so much in the salon, but as soon as I stepped outside into the natural light and took a picture, I cried. This is my first time in 11 years doing ANYTHING new with my hair and I chose Dean Gera because according to Google, they're the best. I'm sorry but I have a hard time believing that my light yellow-orange-brown head is what the "best" produces. :( And the pricing was an entirely different matter. When I went to checkout, I was told my price was 199 euros for a blow-dry/cut, "creative color," and "fiberplex treatment." I was never told I was receiving a fiberplex treatment, nor was I asked, nor did I say I wanted it, nor do I even know when I got it (my hair was bleach foiled, toned, washed, brushed, and then cut). I told them so and they were VERY reasonable and got rid of it, which I assumed was where the price discrepancy came from... but that only brought it down to 179. Turns out my "creative color" was 134 euros. (I don't know what part of bleach foil highlights counts as "creative color," but whatever.) I immediately said I didn't ask for a creative color, I asked for balayage; the director came over and said, "Yes, balayage. Creative color. It's the same thing." On their website and on their price list at the salon, "creative color" is listed as "by quotation" - I was never "quoted" anything. I tried a little bit more to argue, and she insisted that the website and their price list says "FROM 90" for the balayage (so apparently no longer a "creative color"). And technically speaking, they're right. It says "Senior stylist from" - which I assumed meant "from a senior stylist" but in fact means "starting at". I think that’s a weird way to put it but fine; I misunderstood. She told me that based on hair length of course it can take much longer. I said, "Yes, but I wasn't told that it could also be much more expensive." She said, "I don't think it's much more expensive" - so I guess 45 euros isn't much? Whatever. My head was sore, I was late for an appointment, and I just paid it and left. The cut is great. My stylist was a lovely, gentle, and kind person. I would have happily paid 199 euros for something like the pictures that I walked in with. The problem is that I wasn't told what I was paying for (or even what I was receiving), and the color does not even remotely resemble what I asked for; to be honest, I feel like this was sketchy at best and scammy at worst. This is the single worst hair experience I have ever had, and I'm so crushed. I realize experience can be subjective, so I've attached the 3 photos that I brought with me, and a picture of my hair as it is now, directly after leaving. Take a look, and you decide if this is what you're willing to accept for the money when you book an appointment there.
