::Rude thief owner: Customer: Can I please use the toilet? Old owner: Do you want to pay? *Rude tone* Customer: if I buy these two water bottles can I use the toilet? Old owner: Do you want to pay? *Rude tone* Customer: Oh then I will buy this water and is it OK if I use the toilet? Old owes: 2 Euros. *Rude tone* In my experience locals behave like thirsty for money. It is the 5th time I experience this behavior and 4 of these experiences were in Mdina--nice city though. My girlfriend went to the toilet used for 5 minutes and the owner was telling me in an angry way that she was talking too long. I straight forwardly replied to her that she is not taking too long and that she is using the toilets. The toilets were very smelly and they didn't have toilet paper. I forgot my wallet there and the store was empty. After 5 minutes, I came back to the shop to ask the old owner if she has seen my wallet and she said no. After, I was so confident that I left the water there because the two water bottles that I bought were in my backpack. I came there again and ask her if she has wallet and she nope in a more quite tone. I told her that she can keep the money but I need my documents, which is basically accusing her of thief, and she replied in a more nervous way that there is nothing there. Thus, I am very confident she stole my wallet.
