  Googled this place and thought it was worth trying for authentic local food - and wasn't disappointed. You know it's local when the waiter doesn't speak any English - even though he was super nice and friendly - so we had to get by with the few words of Italian i know plus Google translate. We ordered the calamari, octopus salad, mussels and fish of the day, which was sea bass. All were great. The sea bass in particular was cooked to perfection, juicy and chunky in a nice tomato sauce. Enjoyed our visit and recommended this place to our friends.

  Staffs are rude and don't take the order, we ordered the starter and took over 30mins to get on table. And we called for a reservation ahead however no one understand English at all, and staffs are keeping talking to customers who speaks their own language, the service are the worst one i ever been. This starts cost us 25€ which is exactly not match the quality it should be!

  Definitely the best italian restaurant in town. You will get delicious original and fresh sicilian seafood here. You have to try the sweet&sour tuna. Incredible. And not to mention the really kind hosts! Forget about the burger places and eat authentic cucina at Ostricaio!

  We were there for Christmas Eve and were very disappointed (and we weren’t the only ones). Although I mentioned weeks before that i have a shellfish allergy (which wasn’t a problem according to the boss) and told it again the evening itself, all three courses contained shrimps or scampi’s ... Besides of this, the food was very average. We ate far better fish in other restaurants on Malta. Furtermore, the restaurant was very noisy. The music played hard, and a family was checking a movie on a tablet with the noise even louder. When we complained against the family, they didn’t care and just continued watching with the volume at level 10. When we complained against the staff, they just went outside smoking cugarettes together with some of the family members. We ended the evening with a bill of €110 for two average menu’s while I wasn’t able to eat half of mine, and two glasses of house wine. Merry Christmas!

  The food was amazing! I had the lobster pasta. The only thing I can remark on was when I asked for parmesan to my pasta the waiter said that they don't have it and I was really surprised by that on a Italian restaurant. And said that. 5 minutes I got my cheese with a comment about what I said before which seemed unnecessary. But I will definitely come back for the great lobster pasta!
