  The worst public transport I have ever seen. Buses are never on time, drive randomly. It’s common they don’t stop on the bus stops. You can easily wait for 1.5h hour just to be left on the stop by the driver. Also the drivers are most probably carefully selected only from the most rude people on the island. Add to that they drive like crazy and the most buses are too small and wrecked. They will tell you that „it’s very difficult” to provide decent bus service on Malta but please. I live in the city with more inhabitants than this whole country. We also have narrow roads, traffic jams, protests, accidents, public events and other challenges yet it can all be coped with. The lines are way too long with too few buses for the environment.

  It’s a bit confusing at first, but you better strap in and get used to it quickly, as the most affordable way to get around Malta is by bus. The bus drivers are nice, just make sure you know which gate you are leaving from. Also, and this is crucial: the busses seem to follow their own schedule. One of my busses arrived a half hour after the scheduled time, and we were the first stop on the route. Time just moves differently over here.

  Surprisingly it works once you understand which buses leave from which area of the terminus.What Malta really needs is a really good bus timetable and map.The guide currently on offer does make a reasonable paper glider.The bus service is loved by some people.Not so great when you've been waiting an hour.The explorer pass takes a lot of hassle out of making sure you have small coins for the bus fare.If you are travelling to the other end of the island a cushion to sit on might help.Enjoy your holiday.You will learn very quickly the concept of an orderly queue and giving the first passenger in the queue first or second chance to board the bus doesn't really work in this country.A great trick is to pretend to look at the timetable and stay at the head of the queue if you want to get back to the front.Us brits are familiar with the game musical chairs.

  All roads and bus routes seem to lead here and at busy (most) times can be a maddening melee of folks. Signage a bit improved of late. Take the weight off the wait and get a pastizzi from one of the many outlets.

  It is the main bus station in the country, and you can change bus from here to most part in Malta. If you cannot buy a bus pass elsewhere, there is a booth to sell you any kind of bus pass. Lots of stall and small shops can be found in the bus station. Very convenient..
