::The oldest place of Christian worship in the Maltese Islands. St Paul is said to have been held imprisoned in the grotto below St Paul's Church. For the feasts of Corpus Domini and the beheading of St Paul, the church will be adorned with beautiful damask and silverware, together with a majestic altar adorned with 72 tall candles. St Pope John Paul II prayed in this church and in the grotto while on his first visit to Malta.
David Borg
