::At 12pm or 4pm they fire one of the cannons to mark the time of the day. Really enjoyed witnessing it. You can see them fire from about in the garden area but would definitely recommend paying I believe about 5euros (we had a combined ticket that allowed entry into multiple historic places) down where the cannons are there is a lot of history. After the cannon is fired talk to the people there, very knowledgeable and will explain the areas of the habour.

::Great place to visit We didn't pay any extra for the big tours just the free viewing and the 6euros donation for the bear and a quick 15min tour for about 3 euros each. loved it

::Stunning views and peaceful when kids aren't running around like feral cats

::At 4pm they will shoot the battery for a show for those present for free. To get the best views, try arrive a bit earlier.

::Enjoy the excellent panoramic views across the harbour to the three cities whilst you wait for the cannon to be fired. Arrive 20 minutes early to get a good advantage point. Then watch a reminder of days gone bye. For a small charitable €6 donation you can go down to the battery for a closer more dramatic view.
