  A friend of mine explained why he had tears on his cheeks at a cenotaph we used to go to for the service in the UK."Because I'm feeling sorry for myself".Sadly no longer with us,except in our memories.I was left his British legion clock,and i added another poppy to it.We call it absent friends.I was here on the 11th November 2017 and paid my respects.We used to say it wasn't just our friends we honoured,it was everyone.I laid my poppy at a quiet place on the island.I came here as part of my two week annual holiday and left a little humbler and wiser.For those like me who have seen war.At the going down of the sun,and in the morning,we will remember them.
