Another particular ancient Maltese temple, this time uniquely rock carved at various underground levels! It is an unusual experience, where one can visit only within a restricted number of people at any one time. Prior booking recommended.

Fascinating and wonderfully atmospheric. Didn't book far enough in advance for standard tickets BUT it is possible to get next day tickets (if you're willing to queue early enough in the morning). Check the website for where you can get these tickets from (as it changes occasionally). Well worth the early morning the day before! (Last minute tickets are for 12:00 and 16:00 hours only, and there are very limited spaces on all tours.)

If only they allowed photography. You arrive at the front of the Hypogeum and are likely to wonder whether you are in the right place. It is in the middle of a densely populated area and it's entrance is unassuming. Just remember that the majority of the tour is underground. YOU MUST MAKE RESERVATIONS IF YOU WANT TAKE THE TOUR. Amazing!

An exceptional historical/cultural site. A must visit while in Malta. This site is so unique and beautiful. It is underground which is what makes it so unique; and you can walk through it to see what it's like. There is an above ground exhibit to get you context about what it's about but once you get down there, prepare to be in awe of how it was dug out with just human labour. A disclaimer though, if you are uncomfortable of small/narrow spaces and being underground in general, I would not do this. Otherwise, you have to book this one weeks in advance! There are a limited number of visitors allowed and they are scheduled. You probably won't get in if you go the day of.

Very interesting historical site. Good visitor facilities. Very strict and limited on numbers of people who enter. As this is a UNESCO World Heritage Site you are not allowed to walk directly in the rooms. However, the walkways enable easy access to the most interesting areas. Nice video presentation before the tour.
